at 0601 hours to escort 1 Sunderland on an-air-sea rescue mission to the east
Coast of SARDINIA. The formation rendezvoued with -Sunderland at SJDI"AHMED——
at 1,000 feet at 0605 hours. Route: to target, due North. ' eather: en
route to target, 8/10s clouds at 3,000 feet, 9/10s at 5,000 f set with haze.

BOMBER ESCCRT MISSION - 15 P-38s, Lts. Jackson, Ran Sice, Cogswell, Lee,
Brophy, Kienholz, Sager, Grieshaber, Cpdalil, Allan,' Jacobsen, Wilson, Brava,
Dibble, and Kipper, took eff at’ 0920 hours to escort 2/ 1126s over SCALEA
A/D/ITAU. The P~38s rendezvoued with the bombers at DJ2IDJA at 0945 hours
at 4,000 feet. Route: to garget, 60 degrees. Weather: to target, 6/10s
clouds at 15,000 feet with haze below. The B-26s were over the target at
10,000 feet; the P-3&amp;2 at 12,000 feet at 1140 hours. Barbing; very accurate,
hits being seen all over the target. One large gas fir- tvas observed in the
bombed area. Flak: no flik v-.o cr.ccu.—crec. ’..cutter: ever target, ccm.-lete
